Imperial Assault Gaming Miniatures
These were painting for some friends who play the board game. They are preposed. I used different basing techniques to distinguish between the Empire and the Rebellion.
KillZone Medic Costume: Rifle
This part of the costume had me a little perplexed. I wanted something light to carry around and durable. Time was a factor as well. I decided on a cheap airsoft springer rifle. I had some parts lying around that would help transform the gun into something that looked like it belonged in the KillZone universe. I used a wet/dry vacuum tube for part of the gun, as well as a busted holo scope. I tried to gut as much as I could out of the gun and scope to try and keep down the weight.

KillZone Medic Costume: Helmet
A good friend's son wanted to be a medic from the video game series KillZone. I used a cheap airsoft rifle and helmet to replicate a few parts for his costume.
The first step was to fill in all the extra holes in the helmet. I used a for sale sign from Lowes, glued it to the back of the holes and filled them in with Bondo. Lots of sanding followed.
Once the Bondo was sanded smooth, I primed the helmet with Plastikote Spot Filler Primer. This was a process because each coat reveled flaws which had to be sanded. Eventually it was all smooth.
One the primer cured, I gave the helmet a coat of flat black.
I painted the helmet with a gloss white paint. I masked off the red markings and painted the emblem. The holes in the helmet were backed with material they use at Disney for their characters eyes. I felt that this would give the helmet a more complete look. The camera in the front was scratch built from styrene and a acrylic disc was used for the lens. It was attached with rare earth magnets so it could easily be removed. The weathering was from acrylics, airbrushed and sandpaper.
Battlestar Galactica: Antique Viper
This was a Mike Salzo kit. The original series from the 70's featured an episode where Starbuck gets highjacked. This is supposed to represent an earlier version of the Vipers. Personally I love this design. Very fun to build and paint.
